Airbus Defence and Space will be displaying new LTE and new Tetra products and features at booth A301
Airbus Defence and Space, a leading solutions provider of secure communications for mission-critical users in the civil and military markets, will be displaying its latest products and features at Critical Communications World (CCW) at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore (20-22 May), at booth A301.
The company will be introducing a new Multi-Standard Base Station (MBS) platform and a new high-power (HiPo) modem, combining the Professional Mobile Radio (PMR) technology of Airbus Defence and Space with the Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology of Alcatel-Lucent. Both professional radio network elements allow broadband services to be added to existing Tetra (terrestrial trunked radio) or Tetrapol networks with no impact on the quality of the voice services. The MBS and the HiPo modem operate across all traditional ultra-high frequency bands, like 380-400 MHz, 410-430 MHz and 450-470 MHz.
Will LTE really be able to offer Mission Critical Users the services that they need? When? And at what cost? What steps are being taken to ensure that there will be a global standard for Mission Critical Mobile Broadband?
Standardisation for Mission Critical LTE is VITAL. The topic will form a key part of the debate at Critical Communications World 2014. Watch the videos below to hear more from ETSI, the French MOI and TCCA on the importance of developing common standards. Users of all Critical Communications technologies must draw together to drive forward common goals for Mission Critical Broadband technologies. (more…)

Industry event to present complete capabilities of critical communications industry
Wednesday 17 April 2013, London, UK
TETRA continues to dominate the critical communications market. Data released by IMS Research (now part of IHS Inc.) shows that 2012 is the third consecutive year for record shipments by manufacturers of TETRA equipment. The technology is being deployed in more regions than ever before, and showing strong acceptance in a growing number of vertical markets.
Reflecting the on-going popularity of the TETRA standard, the industry’s annual Critical Communications World conference and exhibition is expecting a record number of attendees and exhibitors. This year the event takes place in Paris from 21-24 May 2013.
“TETRA is a robust and highly specified standard that has proven its worth time and time again to its users, and to the wider public who depend on critical communications for their safety and security,” said Phil Kidner, CEO of the TETRA and Critical Communications Association (TCCA). “The established leader throughout the world, there are still new markets opening up. These include North America, where we are seeing TETRA being adopted for the first time in the utilities and public transport sectors.” (more…)
